[Amilo M] Problems with M1437G (and some vista questions)

Postby si_harp » Fri Feb 02, 2007 17:14

Hi All,

I have had my FS Amilo M1437G for over a year now and a pretty pleased with it.

I have just installed Vista Ultimate Ed. and I’m having a few probs (prob like a few others).

I’m wondering what drivers do I need to get the remote control working and also the volume dial thing on the left of my laptop to work (which is very useful).

Also I think my NEC ND-6500A DVD-RW is on its way out, just doesn’t work completely most times. Anyone know where I can try out any newer firmware than 2.58? Or if not where’s a good place to buy a replacement and are they easyish to install?

Many thanks to anyone who replies in advance.

Si

By the way if anyone with a similar laptop is having problems installing vista, I found you have to manually install VIA RAID driver version 5.1.2600.410 in order for the installer to find your hard drive, its old driver, but it works :S If you have problems finding it, PM me.

Hi.

Well, I have no solutions for the volume dial and hope there soon will be.
I'm also experiencing some difficulties with vista on my Amilo M1437G.

I've istalled the latest Vista drivers for the videocard, but when I try to play DVD's I get an error message that there are some DRM problems with the videodriver and it wont me play the original DVD's!!

I'm just trying out Vista by installing the 30 trail and I must say that the system runs much slower on Vista than XP! But I only have 512 MB RAM and I just bought another 1 GB RAM. Will I notice a lot of improvment?
Others tryed?

Will there be a section on FS site with new drivers for Vista or are they just ignoring it?

Hi,

Yer i've noticed vista does run a bit slower, but tbh that is expected as our laptops are > year old and vista is demanding. Extra RAM should improve things.

I havn't tried playing DVD's and don't have any on me unfortunately to test. Does that error occur in all dvd playing programs? Could just be WMP be annoying. Try VLC or media player classic? Could also try K-Lite mega codec pack?

Anyone got the volume dial working yet or found decent vista HD audio drivers?

cheers. si

I installed Vista On my 3438g

Note noticed any slowdown, i have it on a desktop and the speed to me is the same.

Again got the audio working with the latest Xp drivers.

I've updated the video drivers from laptopvideo2go and put on the 85 series and all ok. DVD'S play fine as well.

No other problems from what i can see.

The 3438g is not part of the Vista program so drivers will not come out, However as Vista does work albeit with a few tweaks i'm happy.

Hi.
Thanks for the solution for the volume dail, ashtod1 :D
It finnaly works!
I just put in 1GB RAM and noticed a lot of improvment.
For some strange reason the DVD playing now have no problems! Thats a good thing!

Well, the last problem I noticed on Vista is that the speed on WLAN is very poor.
Perhaps I should try to install the drivers for the wlancard that worked fine in XP?

Hi all,

I've tried numerous time to install the XP audio drivers (using the manual update method in device manager). They will install but no sound and winamp and WMP come up with errors. Vista drivers work, but with no volume dial :(

Any ideas? When i choose the directory containing the XP drivers, 3 are shown, 2 signed, 1 not, i have tried all of them with no luck.

Btw wireless is fine for me on Vista, try some software like TCP Optimiser might improve things...

Thanks. si
