Postby Ibalasz » Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:31

I have an Amilo 1630 A with AMD 64 at 3200+ and an CD/DVD dual layer writer NEC ND-6500A v. 2.4, and lately I have writing problems with them! I have tried to wirte Mitshubishi (Werbatim) 16X media DVD-R but after is writen he do not read it at all, and in the case of DVD+R there are not recognized at all like DVD media. The last thing is happennig for the other DVD medias (TDK 16X -R/+R, Sony 16X -R/+R , etc.) How can I solve this problem?

Ps.: The 8X DVD Medias are running out from the store!!!

i have crossflashed my drive with dell's oem version.
it worked for me, however it is probably not a good warranty keeper. :D

the story started when i bought a TDK dvd-r x16 25 cake, the drive just did not recognize it.
after looking around the web i found out the obvious:
-FSC are simply sitting on the sidelines.
-Dell also uses the NEC nd-6500a.

i simply flashed the drive in my pro v2020 with the Dell one 203d:

http://support.us.dell.com/support/down ... eid=128131

further more i think i just went all the way, saying "hell, if this won't work i'll just get another drive", and i flashed the driver with the hacked firmware (no rpc) from "Liggy's and Dee's" site:

http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/en/NEC-ND-6500A/

everything went O.K. for me.

p.s.

there is a new Dell firmware 203e :D
i wish FSC were as good supporting as selling their products,
how stupid was i to have bought a LOOX n560 as well,
with the WM6 upcoming scandal :x
