Fibrecat TX24S2 compatibility with Primergy Servers

Postby anand » Wed Dec 10, 2008 7:58

Hello,
I need to use FibreTX24 S2 with Primergy Servers (RX200S2, S3, S4 and TX150 S4, S5, S6) which has no SAS external interface but i plan to use SAS interface. Will i be able to add a new interface card with these servers and still be able to use the backup device? Where can i find these information regarding the availability of empty slots in these hardware ?
Will i be able to reuse the tapes used for TX24 in TX24S2?
Thanks & Regards, Anand.

I believe that the normal adaptor for the TX24S2 is the LSI SAS3442E-R Low Profile card. However this may not have been validated across the entire range of servers you mention (the RX200S2 for instance is a pre-SAS system).

You can normally carry tapes over to the next generation system, although you may not get all the benefits. Probably best to invest in the correct tapes and use the compatibility for reading archives.
