Slow Vdisk Initialization

Postby mic106 » Fri Oct 19, 2007 17:04

Hello,

I have FibreCat SX80 SAN with seven 750G Seagate SATA Drives.
When I make RAID5 Vdisk of 3 hard disks:
- online initialization takes more then 24 hours
- offline initialization takes 10 hours

RAID 0 or 1 init procedures take almost the same time.

Are so long timings normal or not? This equipment is new for me and I am afraid init procedure is too long.

Yes, that right because of the big capacity of SATA Drives. If during the Online-Inits come additionally I/O Input than the Initphase lasts longer as usual.
