Disconnecting cables

Postby kjdean » Tue Dec 30, 2008 19:33

Hello. I want to disconnect permanently these two connections from my motherboard as I dont use the services that they provide. Can I do that without causing any problems.

1.IEEE 1394a port connector (10-1 pin IE1394_2)
2.Front panel audio connector (10-1 pin F_AUDIO1)

Thanks for any advice.

Personally I would just leave them as they are.

They shouldn't be doing any harm.

This is the the firewire socket.

Pretty self explanatory really :D The front audio sockets.

As I said they shouldn't really do any harm from being connected.

Obviously I don't know your hardware setup or bios configuration but there is no reason why you you shouldn't be able to disconnect a Firewire and/or Front panel audio connection from your motherboard headers - you won't encounter any problems beyond wishing you had smaller hands - the connections are usually awkward due to their size and location.

As I say, there is no real need to disconnect them unless you believe they are causing any problems.

Also, as nothernlight said, the connections are a pain to disconnect.

Yes I agree. I'll leave them as they are. Just wanted to make more place for my grafik card but it fits OK and the cables are no problem. Thanks

I can't see how the cables would get in the way, try attaching them to the side of the case out of the way of the graphics card if you feel they may affect cooling or airflow.
