[Pa] Help with BIOS update

Postby kjdean » Sat Oct 04, 2008 14:20

I've just downloaded the FSC file for the BIOS update of my Motherboard M2R-FVM but its just an empty file.I've tried several times but always the same result.

How can I do an update with an empty file?

The serial number for my PC is - deleted -. Its a scaleo Pa X2 4600.I would be grateful is someone could try to download this file and see what they get. Thanks.

I suspect you're aware that you can't update if you have an "empty" file.

I don't have the same system/motherboard that you are using but if you can provide a link to the BIOS update file you have downloaded, I'll give it a try and see what I get.

Hello. Thanks for your reply. Heres the link to the BIOS update for my Motherboard.Yes I agree one cannot do an update with an empty file. Apparently I'm not the first to have this problem.

Thanks Keith, it's downloaded fine at my end.

There's a lot of empty space in the 1.46MB ISO file, the header is located at position 8000(H), the data is definitely intact.

Thanks for your help. Just wondering what you mean by " header is located at position 8000(H)". I'm pretty much a novice in this matter.

No probs Keith.

I examined the download to check that it actually contained valid data. The file contains a lot of zero's at the start and end; sandwiched in between is hexadecimal values that make up the BIOS update. The start of the information (bulk non-zero's) start at the hexadecimal offset (from the start of the file) at 8000 so a cursory glance at the raw data might have made the ISO file to appear as invalid/empty (only containing zero's).

Not sure how far you have taken the update process - if you burn the file to a CD using Nero or a similar utility you should be good to go.

Hi. Well I did the update using this iso and it went well until just the end then the progrm froze and I turned the computer off . It started ok and the bios seems to have been updated to the lates from FSC.
Bit of a nerve killer!
