BBU Expiry for DX100 S4

Our 2 BBUs are showing as expiring in April 24. We have a quote from a vendor for a replacement but there is a 6 month lead time. Does anyone know if we let the April 24 expiry pass the SAN will contine to function as normal?

We would like to inform that batteries are used for backup power source in case of power outage. A controller enclosure has two batteries.
The batteries are charged from an external power source while the ETERNUS DX is running normally. If a power failure is detected, the cache data in the system memory is saved to the BUD in the controller by using battery power.

Thanks for the update, we have a replacement order in but that helps me understand the impact of not having the order fulfilled by April 24
