DX90 Drive Replacement

Postby ChrisMcC » Mon Jan 07, 2013 9:34

Hi guys.

Hopefully someone can help.

We have a DX90 that has just came out of warrenty. So naturally one of the drives has failed

We purchased the same drive a Seagate ST3600057SS. However when we put the disk in the status came back with "Not Supported".
Status Code 0x9003
Error Code 0x000F

I couldnt find any meaning to these codes.
However there does appear to be a difference between the drives in the RAID and the new one.

All the other drives firmware version is GF05
The new drive is 0008.

Am I right in assuming that the issue is firmware?
How do I update this drive to have the same firmware, or do I have to flash all the drives?

I would appreciate any help!

Thanks

Chris

As you suspect, the ETERNUS drives have special firmware (amongst other things the drives are formatted with 520 byte blocks instead of 512 for extra parity)

I'm not sure the firmware can be upgraded/amended - did you purchase the drive as an ETERNUS drive or just a standard drive (what about the hot swap caddy? These are ETERNUS specific also) - you need to buy a drive especially for an ETERNUS

Thanks Davie.

The guys here just swapped out the drive/ caddy with one they bought with the same serial.

Sounds like we need to go buy another one.
I dont suppose you have any suggestions to where I can buy one of these?

Your normal reseller/distributor should be able to suppy - alternatively (assuming you are UK) you can get them through EAF Supply Chain (formerly ACAL) (see http://www.fujitsu.com/uk/support/compu ... ts/?lng=en - they have only just changed name from ACAL and the webpage doesn't seem to be updated yet but the contact details are the same)

I have a Fujitsu Eternus dx90 s2. One of my disks on main controller went bad. Are there any recommendations for a replacement? Below are the specs on the faulty drive, however, I hear the manufacture doesn't make the same model as what we have now. Please share any information on a drive I can use with no issues. Thanks!

I'm still looking for the following two disks, I can't seem to find. Procurri will not ship to us in the US. If anyone can help, it'll be much appreciated. We need two drives, mainly the 600GB drive.
