N560 GPS problem

Postby geo » Mon May 08, 2006 9:29

Five days ago i bought my new n560.I test it with destinator PN and with my old ACER N35.
The satellite signal was lower than N35.I test it in my car and in my home. The same results.
N560 didn't have better gps than N35?
It's problem with my n560 or this is normal?

those two are hardly comparable as though the n35 has kind of a big extension antenna sticked to its body if i am not mistaken.

on the other hand the included sirfstar3 chip integrated in the n560 should compensate this on a hugh range.

maje sure that bluetooth and infrared are disabled while running GPS.

also using the destinator pn from the n35 on the n560 or whitch prog you are using on that one????

I am having the same problem. GPS location takes a long time to get a fix or sometimes no fix at all. I think this is a hardware problem.
Fujitsu-Siemens please help us!

Fixing delay is probably due to the algorythm of connection to GPS signal. Please, at Fujitsu create an upgrade, beacuse fixing time is really tooooooooo looooooong !!!

Bye,
Andy

I have tha same problem with the GPS on my N560.

My pda just came from Fujitsu service in Greece (they changed the motherboard) after 1 month period. If i have to send it back to resolve the GPS problem (because it's a problem to take 3-4 minutes to find 2-3 satelites), ok then, but first please answer to us what are you suggesting us to do!

thanks
Nikos

F-S staff - wake up!

nikosha is quite right!
N560 has a major bug which concerns most consumers.
Official respond is needed, at least say you're aware of the problem!!

Question:
is this a formal forum by FS? Is somebody from FS reading this forum?

Good morning,
i have purchased FS PL N560 and I have some GPS problem.
Either with GPS Locator (the GPS utility in bundle), either with other GPS SOftware i need to use (TomTom Navigator 5.21, Visual GPS CE) the GPS is acting really awfully.
Even if i am stopped in open spaces with a clear blue sky the signal is going intermittently. 3 satellites will fix then 8 will fix in a minute. But then, even stanting still, 5 satellites loose the fix all together, then after 10 seconds all together regain the fix, then after 20 seconds 3 loose the fix and after 2 seconds 1 regain the fix...and so on dancing with fix, unfix for all the time, always standing still with the N560 in vertical position and just me as observer in open spaces with clear blue sky.

1 - Will FSC release a ROM upgrade to fix this problem?
2 - Is preferable that I ask a RMA and send the N560 to customer care?
3 - Is there any other solution?

PS I have also a N520 (which i am really happy with) and compared the 2 GPS, the N520 one is acting flawlessly without loosing any fix.

Thank you in advance for any help, sorry for my bad english
