Primergy hard disk upgrade

Postby besal » Fri Sep 16, 2022 17:51

Hi,
a customer has multiple Primergy systems (RX2540 M2, RX300 S8, TX300 S6).
Most of these systems have 2.5" disks.

We want to reuse the RX2540 which currently only has 8 x 300 GB disks (and 16 slots usable). If we want to configure it with 2 x 300 GB in RAID1 and 6 x 300 GB in RAID5 we only have approx 1.5 TB for the RAID5.

Can we reuse 2.5" disks from the older systems?
The RX300 also has 300 GB disks and the TX300 has 64 GB disks.

If possible we would reuse 2 x 64 GB in RAID1 for the OS partition and then have 14 x 300 GB in RAID5 which is 4.2 TB.

The size 2.5" looks okay but we are not sure if the drive cages or carriers can be reused in the different Primergy models. They all seem different.

We also need to know how we can pull out the empty drive cages or carriers from the RX2540. They seem to be stuck.

Hello!

Thank you for contacting Fujitsu!
We need some information regarding the used disks in these servers, full PrimeCollect logs from these 3 servers or photos of the disks in each server, in order to compare them with our compatibility diagrams.
The last question is when you open the cover box in the server RX2540 M2. could you please send a screenshot of the HDD's backplanes, if the server is prepared for the new disk or if it´s need to buy an upgrade kit to insert additional disks.

Thank you very much
Best regards,
