Rx300 S8 Power unit: soft power control failure

Postby toomanylogins » Thu Sep 02, 2021 18:53

Hello,

I have had a second S8 fail In similar circumstances. In this case there is an error reported in the IPMI
020006 PSU Power unit: soft power control failure
The unit powers off before I get the BIOS screen.

This does not appear to be the PSU and I've swapped the small board that the two power supplies plug into and that's made no difference. Anyone have any idea as to the error message ?

FYI With both these machines the common denominator is that they are standby servers where they are powered off but plugged in to the battery backup. This one has been off for about a month. In both cases they failed when we tried to start after a long period offline.
Regards
Paul

Hello Paul :)

You need to open the case with server s/n and most likely has defected or the front panel or the mainboard. To verify this please provide System Report.xml from the iRMC console to the check » user forum <user.forum@ts.fujitsu.com>

Hello!

You will need a technician with a new front panel and mainboard to check and exchange one of the faulty component. You will need to pay for this, as the warranty was ended on this server in 2017.

You must call the regional ServiceDesk Fujitsu support (https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexCon ... COM&LC=del), inform them about the problem and open a new case, gave server s/n. Problem ID number: 233735830 to the new case and they will proceed with the case forward.

Operating Panel
Material Number: 38019667

Cabling: Front Panel Module
Material Number: 38018653

System Board D2939 (Rev. B100)

Thankyou for reply,
As I mentioned I have had 2 S8 fail. Before deciding what to do can I send you the log for the original server. This one fails with error
0C0004 CPU1 'CPU1': CPU internal error (IERR)
I can boot to bios but get the error trying to boot the OS (any type).
I have tried switching cpu and ram etc.
Thanks

Hi,

We don't see the new log from the second server with CPU error:
0C0004 CPU1 'CPU1': CPU internal error (IERR).

If you've tested the default Bios settings, set them on your server and try boot.

Without the logs, we cannot help. Please send the log from the second server, we will check them: user forum <user.forum@ts.fujitsu.com>
