Postby toomanylogins » Sat Mar 20, 2021 14:45

I am having issues with rx300 S8. Posts ok and memory test but reboots when trying to boot anything from disk, usb cd etc. Tried everything. Can some one advise where I download he bios file to use via irmc. I can only find installers at

https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDownload.asp?lng=en

Simply select the Admin package...
E.g. here for RX300s8.

Sorry, I have no idea why they provide each & every previous BIOS version in the download; perhaps "Ask Fujitsu" can answer this.

Thanks for reply. I had already downloaded that zip it inc the dos updater. I am trying to update via irmc browser. Any idea which file I upload via irmc web browser. Are they the ones without a file extension eg D2939-B1.121 ?

I am getting BIOS Flash Status: FLASH ready failed

None of them, I guess ;-)
You should use one of the D2939-B1.UP? files in the DOS folder. (N.b.: *UPC is compressed *UPD, therefore it doesn't matter which file of these two you choose.)

Perhaps the files in the .zip's root just contain settings information...
Sorry, it seems my previous text was misleading.
As mentioned before, "Ask Fujitsu" might spend some insight, maybe...

BTW:
Do not forget to update iRMC as well; preferably even BEFORE updating BIOS.

Which are your current versions of iRMC FW and BIOS?

Thanks for trying to help. Using UPD file the update process starts but get after power on
BIOS Flash Status: FLASH ready failed
I am seeing in event log
Major 160018 iRMC S4 BIOS TFTP or HTTP/HTTPS flash failed
and earlier when trying to boot
Critical 0C0004 CPU1 'CPU1': CPU internal error (IERR)
Odd thing is it posts ok without any errors but as windows starts it crashes. Tried booting linux usb etc.
Tried disabling one cpu and also swapping them over. Tried everything I can think of. Mobo must be faulty.
Cheers

Well, if the CPU internal error remains with the same socket even after swapping the CPU packages, then I can only agree with you about the mainboard being the cause of the issues...

There are only a few things that I'd consider, if you haven't tried them already:
- Do not try to disable a CPU in BIOS; rather remove it from its socket.
- Eliminate all possible problem causes by removing every additional unnecessary item from the box, like memory modules (well, ONE of them must remain seated), PCI cards, external connections, ...

Finally, I don't understand why disclosing the current BIOS and iRMC versions is such an issue. There do actually exist dependencies between these two, and perhaps flashing an even older version first might circumvent the problem. (In case it's not the mainboard itself, of course...)

But, well, nevermind, these are just suggestions.

Thanks for reply. Ive tried everything you mentioned in various combinations inc removing the cpu only thing left to try is the cmos battery. Didnt mean to ignore the versions are

BIOS V4.6.5.4 R1.22.0 for D2939-B1x
Firmware Version: 9.20F (Base: 9.20.F)
Firmware Date: Jan 24 2019 - 19:09:32 CEST
Firmware Running: Low Firmware Image
SDRR Version: 3.74 ID 0356 RX300S8

If your list of current versions is correct, then it appears as if your RX300s8 already runs BIOS 1.22...
Therefore, no point in trying to flash the same version once again...

If you wish to downflash, you might want to use the version 1.21 *.UP? files from this link.

And don't forget to load BIOS defaults after each flash operation (should have mentioned this before, I reckon...).

While iRMC FW 9.62F exists for this mainboard, I personally have no hope that flashing this update would actually cure the issue observed, sorry.

Good luck!
