Cache Write Back Configuration TX2540M1 Windows Domain Controller

Postby lpapaleo » Fri May 29, 2020 11:03

Hello, I've 2 server TX2540M1 with RAID Controller SAS 6Gbit/s 1GB (D3116C) with same problem.
First server: 2 SSD 480GB Mainstream + Windows 2012 R2 Standard Domain Controller
Second server: 2 SAS 300GB + Windows 2016 Standard Domain Controller
In Raid configuration I turn on Write Back on controller.
After the OS boots the WB is changed to Write Thorouhg.

I've read on different forum that is normal behavior of OS with Active Directory installed.

But... I've more than a couple of TX1330M4 with EP400/410/420 controller with Windows 2016 Standard or Windows 2019 Standard (always with Domain Controller role) and in this case the setting remains in Write Back.

I've read about a registry key
Path: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters
Value: "DSA Heuristics" = 1
but I haven't tryed.

Or about CLI command on controller
/c0 set modepgctl=ignore
/c0/u0 set cache=on
not tryed too.

Anybody has any suggest how to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

Luca

Hello,
Please provide complete PrimeCollect which is the standard way to deliver info about the PRIMERGY hardware needed for support. Here is the manual how to prepare it: http://85.214.80.182/file/8398/sv-primecollect-en.pdf

Hello Luca!

1. We don´t have the serial number and we don´t see the configuration;
2. You can add the PrimeCollect on our FTP Server;
3. You can open a ticket directly in the support portal and attach the logs for the analysis.

Hi Luca!

Can you provide the PrimeCollect logs from the mentioned servers? We need the S/N and logs to be able to help you.

Second, to use the controller cache, your must have the (BBU) backup battery unit installed. Do you have it?

We are waiting for update and logs. :D

Hello,
sorry I've been out of office for few days.

Here is the S/N YLQK008939.

I confirm there's BBU installed and working correctly.

Can you tell me where (ftp o ticket) I can upload the primecollect?

Thanks again!

Luca

Please upload PrimeCollect to this server: datastore.ts.fujitsu.com
Please use anonymous account. After upload, please inform me about a file name which was uploaded.

Hello,
I've tryed to upload the file (PrimeCollectTX2540.zip) both in incoming and hw-diag folder.

After the upload I've tryed to list directory but they're empty.

Where I'm wrong on upload?

In other folder or root directory it seems I can't write.

Thanks again

Luca

That's expected behaviour...
You've got rights to write to the folder, but don't have rights to list its contents.
You probably wouldn't want other people than Fujitsu to download your stuff, would you?
At least, FTS don't want to provide a public file share folder to everyone on the web, I reckon

Hello!

Please upload this file once again to the ´incoming´ folder. Other files will not be visible.
I saw this file in the morning, but I could not download it. The automatic file deletion process has cleared the folders.
Please inform me when file will be uploaded. Thank you!

Hello,
I've just updated again in the "incoming" folder, same name (PrimeCollectTX2540.zip).

Thanks a lot again

This server is out of warranty.
You should contact with your local Fujitsu Service Partner to exchange raid controller with all connected modules such as: FBU/BBU/TFM.
This controller had an issue with a fatal error:
Event Description: Controller cache discarded due to memory/battery problems
But this is one of detected events related with the errors.
Parts exchange will solve an issue.

Thanks, I knew this server is out of warranty.
I write here to share this problem 'cause I'm thinking that isn't an hw problem
The server when was installed with Windows 2008 R2 (without domain controller) didn't have this problem.
The problem is happening just after Windows 2016 installation and configuration as domain controller.
Looking in Microsoft forum it seems that the DC configuration set the cache in write trhough.
Thanks anyway
Luca
