DVI on RX1330M2

Postby PatrickOD » Thu Jul 13, 2017 16:01

Hello.

I need dual DVI video on a RX1330M2.

The server page http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/products/com ... /rx1330m2/
lists "PRIMERGY PGRA CP NVIDIA® NVS™ 315 1GB VGA PCIe x16" under components, so my assumption was that this was compatible. However, this card does not fit because it is PCIe x16, while the 4 slots in the server are PCIe x8.

First, am I missing something about why that card is listed as a component of this server?
Second, is there a compatible card that will give me dual DVI output?

Thanks...

You might get away with it, if that x16 card would allow to operate in an x4 slot, but you would need to "open" one end of the x4 socket used for that card...

I'd assume that the previously used NVS300 (available e.g. in RX1330M1, http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/illustrated_spares/content/RX1330_M1/detail.htm?id=115, available with x1 connector, became undeliverable by the original manufacturer, and so s.o.@FTS decided to declare the NVS315 as successor. Probably without knowing or even considering the physical constraints :-)

Sorry, I personally don't have a different answer, and don't know about a different card with your requested specifications.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't want to apply a hacksaw to the connector if possible, this is an item that will be sent out to customers ;-)
It appears that the NVS300 is end of life, as you suggested. There seem to be not many other suitable cards that are less than x16 but I will have to keep looking...
