ServerView Video Redirection password - Issue resolved

Postby vanick » Wed Jun 21, 2017 11:46

I'm having a problem remotely connecting to a server via Video Redirection. When I click on the Video Redirection (JWS) link, it prompts me to open or save the avr.jnlp file. I click on open, which prompts me to choose a program. I say okay to Java (TM) Web Start Launcher and then say run to the security question. I'm finally at the iRMC S2/S3 advanced Video Redirection window, and that's where I'm having a problem. I'm getting a prompt to enter a password. I've tried the password used login to ServerView and I've tried the default admin password and neither works. If someone can help with: where and how can that password be set, or how can the password prompt be disabled or bypassed? I do not have physical access to the server, but that can be arranged if necessary. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, it might help to have a screen shot of the password request to identify who is issuing the request. For instance, are you going through a firewall/proxy which needs a password?

Thanks for the reply. I've attached a print screen of the Redirect window with the login request:

That looks very much like some sort of system or BIOS password request. Do you have physical access to the console, as I suspect you will find that password request there as well

Unfortunately, I do not have physical access to the server. However, if what you suspect is true, "you (I) will find that password request there as well", then physical access will still present a challenge. I'm in the process of getting some onsite to take a look. If what you say turns out to be the case, then the question becomes, with physical access how can we bypass the password? Ideally, there's a default Fujistu system or bios password, which hasn't been changed. Any idea what that might be? I'll run a search and see if I can locate an answer.

There isn't a default BIOS password. If there is a password it is because someone has set one. In this case, it may be possible to reset it - but first you need to confirm that this is indeed the problem. If it is, have a look at the Upgrade and Maintenance Manual.

We were able to resolve by popping open the hood, and resetting the JP1 switch to the "disable" setting. No more password prompts.

Thanks for the replies.
