PRIMERGY TX1310 M1: iSCSI Boot + Installation MS Windows Server

Postby Suisso » Thu Dec 15, 2016 10:36

Hello, i have a problem with iSCSI Boot configuration on server TX1310 M1 + installation of MS Windows (2008 R2 or 2012).

When I load the driver for my network card on the setup of Windows installation, the list of disk's is empty, i cannot see the target disk on iSCSI LUN (NAS QNAP TS453-Pro)!

But when i boot the server i can see the target disk:

I try a lot drivers of my network card onboard (in Intel website and Fujitsu website) but unsuccessfully, don't work! :|

Infos of server:
PRIMERGY TX1310 M1
S/N: YLTQ046672

Infos of NAS:
QNAP TS-453 Pro
Version: 4.2.2

P.S: - I followed the steps all of this tutorial: http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/9425/iscsi-boot-intel-win-en.pdf
- And the bios is up to date!
- Just to confirm that the iscsi connection (ISCSI Target) works if you install MS Windows 2008/2012 on RAID disks and configure iscsicpl on Windows! But I want to install and boot MS Windows Server directly through iSCSI without using physical RAID disks on the server!

Anyone can help me please ?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards :D

Well I think the manual you reference says it all (my highlighting):
If no iSCSI target LUN is displayed in this menu, there are two possible
reasons:
  • The iSCSI parameters in the controller’s firmware setup do not match the
corresponding parameters in the configuration of the iSCSI target. In this
case you will need to check the iSCSI parameters in the controller’s
firmware setup (see chapter "iSCSI Boot Configurations" on page 25),
    and restart the Windows setup.
  • No drivers or incorrect drivers were installed. Make sure that the correct
    drivers are installed
    .

I am confused by your reference to:
LAN: Intel 82574 L (Onboard on PS160-D2759-A1x)

As far as I can see the D2759 was the TX150 S7.The TX1310 M1 is D3219 and the on-board LAN is Intel i210/i217.

Have you been to the Product Support downloads site http://support.ts.fujitsu.com and tried the LAN drivers listed under the TX1310?

Hello elsie, thanks for your reply.

Yes it is confusing because I had to change the initial post because of the hotline, because the TX150 S7 server was no longer under warranty and so I had to put a TX1310 M1 into warranty for help but currently the problem is even in the TX 150 S7!

And yes I already tested all the drivers!

The onboard network card is Intel 82574L (Onboard on TX150 S7 - PS160-D2759-A1x)!

Does ISCSI Remote Boot support for boot directly (diskless)?

Can you help me ? :)

Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,

As far as I can see, for Windows Server 2008, you need to download Intel LAN Driver_Tool SetupBD from SW-Kit 14.7 . Unzip this onto a memory stick. During Windows, load the LAN driver from SetupBD_x64_1Gb_10Gb_W2K8_R2_14.7\PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS62\e1q62x64

Bonjour Suisso,

Have you tried setting the boot order as follows ?
1- ISCSI target
2- Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD

You could try to partition the LUN and format it first.

Hmmm, there must be something about your system! I have got this to work on a TX150 S7 without any problems. You are using the on-board network card?

Be worth ensuring you are on latest BIOS, do a 'Get Default Values', and then set the required BIOS options such as iSCSI.

Your network card appears to work with iSCSI, but might be worth using BootUtil to check/reset the iSCSI boot option on it.

Looking at the other side of the equation, have you managed to get anything else to iSCSI boot from the QNAP NAS box?
