IRMC access problems

Postby arestas » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:06

Hello all,

I have 4 RX200 S8 servers. Ive configure them with identical definitions and with same versions.

On 2 of them (and while i am accessing IRMC via HTTP) i suddenly lose all the access to the servers (HTTP,SSH). Cant even ping the IRMC port if i connect directly to the IRMC port.
In order to gain access to IRMC again i need to connect a keyboard and a monitor to the server go to bios and disable all IRMC configurations apply them and then enable again.
After this i have access again.

I have check the 4 IRMC port configurations on the switch and they all have same definitions... They also have same configurations on the IRMC server side configurations.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

If i wasn't clear enough feel free to ask more information.

Regards,

Arestas

What version of iRMC firmware?
There was a problem in early versions of firmware that iRMC could lock up - and only way to recover it was to fully disconnect all mains for 30 seconds.

Update iRMC firmware first and see if it still happens

Since iam kinda new with Fujitsu systems, could you tell me whats the fast and easy way to update all the outdated firmware?
Download Server View Update DVD, boot from it and install the updates? (its 8G since it brings all the updates for all the different servers)
Create a bootable USB with the firmware for my 4 servers, Boot to USB and install the updates?

Obviously the update DVD is the best for updating EVERYTHING in one hit .. but individual updates can all be downloaded from the download site at support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download

I believe there is also now a thing called a "content collector" which collects all the necessary downloads for just one model of server so you can create a bootable USB stick specfic to just that model - obviously much smaller than the entire update DVD

Also if running Windows, the system monitor (part of the agent package) can be configured to look for updates

Hello all,

Update to IRMC done but problem persists.....
Old verion:
Firmware Version: 7.69F (Base: 7.69.F)
Firmware Date: Dec 3 2014 - 22:58:14 CET
Firmware Running: Low Firmware Image
SDRR Version: 3.60 ID 0355 RX200S8

New version:
Firmware Version: 7.73F (Base: 7.73.F)
Firmware Date: Mar 1 2015 - 16:59:39 CET
Firmware Running: Low Firmware Image
SDRR Version: 3.60 ID 0355 RX200S8

If iam connected directly to the server i dont lose access to the IRMC...

On the switch side all the 4 IRMC ports are configure for:
auto negotiate for duplex mode
10Mbps for speed

Should i configure IRMC ports for 10Mbps speed also?
If so, why are 2 of my servers working with no problems?

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Problem solved.
The problem was related with swicth ports where the IRMC were connected.

Tanks for all the help.
