Econel 200 S2 Raid migration

Postby beachmat » Tue Nov 11, 2014 14:14

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to do a RAID migration on a Econel 200 S2? The help for Raid Manager refers to a Migrate Logical Drive command which doesn't seem to be available.

Typically RAID manager knows what levels of migration controllers support. If it doesn't offer it then suggests it's not supported. What levels were you thinking of migrating from/to?

Right, thanks. I was looking to go from 1 to 5 or possibly 10. I've tried installing a 3rd drive and the migrate command is still not available.

Econel 200 S2 doesn't support RAID5 unless the optional iButton (enabler) is fitted. Even if it is, it is very much a software-like RIAD5 with no supporting cache or co-processors so not the best solution anyway.

Can't find if it will support migration to RAID10 but from RAID1 you'd obviously have to install 2 more disks to see if migration to RAID10 were possible

Ok, thanks. Both 5 and 10 are mentioned in the help so I guess it might be worth installing 2 more drives.

Well I've installed 2 more drives and the migrate command is still not available, which is annoying.
