WARNING! On-site warranty is rubbish.

Postby rthorne » Wed Dec 19, 2001 13:47

Last Thursday/Friday, we logged a call with the Siemens/Fujitsu helpdesk to report a broken Scenic ED PC. It's PSU had failed, and we requested that we have it fixed a.s.a.p. Our call was logged and details taken and we were told that someone would call back with details of when we could expect an engineer.
Several follow-up calls later, we had still heard nothing, and no engineer had been in contact. It is now the following Wednesday and still we are waiting. A call to the helpdesk to make a formal complaint only got us as far as being advised that they are awaiting a part, and that we would be called back once further information is available.
We have bought about 20 or more Siemens Fujitsu PCs on the strength of their on-site warranty, and we had every intention of buying about another 40-50!!
If this is the level of service that can be expected, we will need to find another manufacturer. Clearly this manufacturer has other ideas of what constitutes a 48 hour on-site service. It is now my intention to take the matter further, as it appears that we have been misled into buying these PCs, and it may be advisable for us to return them all!
Be aware of this if considering Fujitsu Siemens computers for you organisation!!
