Postby morphcore » Sat Sep 10, 2005 15:11

hi folks.
i got a celsius m410 with
2x 256MB, DDR, 333, CL2.5 ECC RAM
now i bought one
1024MB, DDR, 333, CL2.5 ECC RAM
to expand the memory.
when the 1GB-RAM is installed onto the MB
(into the 3rd RAM slot) and i start my computer the screen stays
black, but the computer boots normaly (HD spins, Fans spin etc)
when the other 2 RAM's are not installed
and i only install the 1GB-RAM the problem
stays the same.
so i tried to update my BIOS with the BIOS
update shown in the driver download area
on this homepage (my pc ID is YBTB009083).
when i try to install the update via floppy
onto my system following message is shown
while the flash memory check:
PART ID NOT FOUND IN TABLE OF SUPPORTED PARTS
PRESS ANY KEY TO REBOOT
this is my problem. and i don't know how to fix it. is the RAM broken or does my MB not support such RAM types.

Your machine is build with two modules with ECC support, so i think dual channel is used.
Regarding the manual for the D1356, only PC2100(DDR266) and PC1600(DDR200) ram modules are supportet.
Are modules that ase already plugged on the mainboard PC2700(DDR333) modules?
To upgrade this machine the best option would be to modules P2100 à 512MB with ECC(but no registerd ECC!!).
I hope this helps a little.
greets

Yep, that's Non-ECC.
You should add 2 Pieces Unbuffered ECC Memory for best performance and compatibility. For example 2 pcs. of this:
http://www.kmelektronik.de/main_site/main.php?action=Product_Detail&ArtNr=5709&Shop=0
By the way, the photo shown there is not coprrect, it shows a non-ECC module. ECC would have one more chip in the middle
(9 chips with ECC vs. 8 chips without ECC)
