D981 Motherboard - extended hard-disk

Postby » Sun Nov 25, 2001 13:30

I have an Xpert 4400 PII/233 MHz, D981 Motherboard with a hard disk of 3,2 GB. Operational system Win95, Bios Phoenix V.4.06. Rev.1.02.981.
I want to install a second hard-disk with at least 10 GB capacity (if possible).
Anyone having a good idea of how to do that without to much complications and in depth knowledge about multiple hard-disks in operation ?
Thanks in advance.
Kjramber
I have a Xpert 5620 with the D981 motherboard and PII 300MHz. I have 2x128MB + 1x64MB RAM. I upgraded to the V.4.06. Rev.1.10.981 bios. I added a Fujitsu-Siemens 40 GB Silent Drive HDD as a slave on the primary IDE channel. No problems. I run Windows ME (no update, new installation) and it runs excellent.
The only problem I had with this pc was when I upgraded the driver for the Lucent modem to V90. Then the soud went corrupt. I just got bad noice. I changed to a Compas modem and that run excellent with V90 and does not influence the sound system. Later I added a Creative Soundblaster 1024 Live sound card which works excellent as well.
Finally I am going to upgrade the processor to a Celeron at a higher speed. Reading this forum I understand that this isn´t trivial but I will see what I can do.
