You could have a hardware problem. If you do find the usb ports are bust, then this may solve your problem.

Mind you if you need to install a driver then you will need a mouse, hmm. Mind you it should be auto detected and installed by the O/S. :wink:

If you go to device manager, does it show under imaging devices? If not go to downloads in the F/S Suport and try loading the driver...

What programs are you using that requires a web cam. Skype?

Ubuntu and openSUSE come, like windows, with drivers already part of the O/S. So running the live CD will show you what will and what won't be automaticaly installed. For anything that isn't picked up, you will need to serch the manufacturer of the componants. To see if they have Linux support. You ...

I've never had this problem, so I'm just thinking out loud. Would partitioning the drive to multiple smaller sizes let you get the full capacity. Again I don't know if this would work? :?

Can't see why not. Download a live linux distro, then boot from that. It will let you experience linux without haveing to install it. If everything is ok, go ahead and install. Ubuntu and openSUSE are just two free!!!! Linux distro's there are many more..... 8)

Find out what make bios you have, Phoenix, ami, award, etc. Then just google bios bleeps, there are hundreds of sites which will tell you.

Try removing all the memory if the MOBO is working, you will get multiple bios bleeps. If nothing changes, then that points to a MOBO fault.... :cry:

Is this machine an Esprimo. If so the machine will take a maximum of 2gb of DDR2 PC2-4200 memory. I can't find out how many slots on the MOBO there are so you will have to pop the side of to see. I got the info from http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx You can use the scan tool or the memory advisor...

First you may have a problem with your graphics driver. Try installing the latest one and see if that fixes it. There are other reasons for slow boot up. Microsoft set the default password as blank. But if F/S have set a password you will have to ring them.

If you are confident about taking apart your machine then you can buy new drives at http://www.ebuyer.com. I would take out my old one and with the information on the HDD, buy a replacement My Amilo is pretty easy to replace, but some would be best only tackled by someone who knows what they are doi...
