Re: [Amilo SI1520] More than 2GB RAM

If the manual says 2gb is the limit, then that is it. I went on the cruical web site and it confirms the limit to be 2GB. The limit is set by what the MOBO can handle (bios), so does not matter what size modules you stick in. Sorry for the bad news! :(

Re: [SCALEO T] Ram upgrade

A final coment. I was asked be a friend at work to move the componants out of an old case, into a new one (coolermaster cm690). There is a considerable drop in temps by just getting a good case. His old case had 2*80mm and 1*120mm case fans, the new one has 5*120mm and an option for 2 more120mm. His...

Re: How to downgrade from Vista to XP

Follow tenchiten link for your drive problem, it is more likely to solve your problem. I was having nearly the same problem while building my latest computer. I was installing Vista, on HDD's which had formaly been used for XP. No matter how many times I formated it would not see my drive. By chance...

Re: Amilo Xi 2528 recovery partition deletion

If you have a recovery disk which came with the machine which has Vista on it. You will find it wont ask for a key, if it does it will be on a sticker on the bottom of your machine. If you buy OEM Vista the code is tied to the disc that you get. When you activate it, it then is tied to the machine y...

Re: Amilo Xi 2528 recovery partition deletion

I can't speek for F/S machines. All the computers which I have owned or worked on, have had vital data, mods, programs etc on those partitions. Most have the actual recovery images there. I wish I had £100 for every machine I've been asked to fix, and been told oh I've lost the disks, the kids destro...

Re: Amilo Xi 2528 recovery partition deletion

Why would you want too? If all goes badly wrong and you’ve lost that recovery disc, how would you get your computer back :? If you are certain you want to, Acronis disk director suite 10 will do the job. You can download it from the Acronis web site and use it for the trial period without ha...

Re: pa 1538 memory extension ?

F/S manual for your machine doesn’t actually say what the maximum is, as far as I can see. But it does say Maximum of 2 GB or 4 GB. And it does say the notebook will take 2GB memory modules, so that leads me to believe 4GB is the maximum. The memory you need is DDR2-533 SODIM (PC2-4200) or DDR2-667 ...

Re: Amilo Li 1718c - Problems with preparing recovery CD's

Since you have tried other media, that would rule out that as the cause. Altough it should not be a problem on modern machines, have you got program or processes running in the background (anti virus etc). Try again and shut down all non essentials, and don't do anything while burning. I don't know ...

There is conflicting advice on this. My new notebook says it’s ok to, and in the past I've googled for this question and most say it’s ok to. But defiantly there are some which need the battery to complete the circuit. So depends on the make and model. I did read that the battery works like a big ca...

Arctic Cooling are a very good company, that product looks very good. It makes sense to do your GPU, as modern ones run hotter than CPU’s. I have seen a friend’s high end card running under full load get to 85c. I’m happy with my nvidia 8800 GTS standard cooler for the moment. What temp is too high?...

Graphics cards tend to be noisy, that’s a hell of a replacement fan you are going to use. So replacing that will have a secondary effect of reducing noise. I have never replaced the graphics fan, so can’t help there. I have a coolermaster case which had a tunnel in the side cover. I removed it to ge...
