I believe that currently the DX systems do not support non-interactive ssh. In other words you can only use ssh to login. Hopefully non-interactive use will be added in the future.

The process can take some time - but this seems very slow. How big are the disks? and is the system still in use? The expand is a background process, so will take a long time if lots of disk access over SAN.

You say you can't connect - I assume this is either HTTP or TELNET. Can you ping the IP address? If not, are you using VLANs? You might be coming in on a different VLAN?
If you can ping and telnet, but Web GUI isn't available, it might be a security/proxy problem with your browser.
