MN|6.1 on N520

Navigon have just released a free upgrade (patch?) for MN|6 available for download from their site. The upgrade has greatly improved usability and speed of route calculation and location of destination on the map. Prior to the upgrade I was a bit disappointed compared to MN|5 but wanted the addition...

Since the GPS system is Anerican I suspect that your N520 will work there just fine! I've never heard of any GPS system being country (or continent) specific, apart from the maps of course

OK, I compared a San Disk card with the PNY one and there is no difference in speed. I also tried installing the MN|6 software on the SD card rather than in system memory. The results are no different: it takes 45 seconds from the Navigon splash screen appears until it disappears and there is the hi...

I've just installed MN6 on my N520 and it seems to be very sluggish! Has anyone else noticed this when upgrading from MN5? The N520 is relatively low power so that may be the problem, or might it be my memory card? I'm using a PNY brand that worked fine with MN5 but might it be too slow for the larg...

I noticed yesterday that MN6 is now available as a download from the Navigon site for £69.99 which represents a substantial savng over the previous price of £100 for a version supplied on a memory card.

Erik,

Not sure where you are located but something like this is one way round your problem

http://www.maplin.co.uk/SEODynamicPages ... odNo=48016

It's an adapter that enables SD cards to be used in a CF slot in a digital camera.

Looks like the Creative charger is the one for me, then, Mike. I dislike having trailing wires running from the lighter socket and in fact spent a lot of time last year tracking down an iPod connector from the US that could be hard wired to my head unit so this Creative charger at around a fiver is ...

Thanks, Mike. So you use the regular car charger and then replaced the tip on it with the Maplin's one to give a 90 degree angle? What I'm trying to do is to hardwire in a small charger under the dash where there is an accessory socket and simply have the lead to the N520 appearing from the side of ...

Mike,

Can you clarify exactly what you did? My N520 came with a mains charger and a cigarete lighter car charger. Did yours have some sort of combined charger?

Many thanks for this - it's just what I need as I realised that the 5V adapter on the Maplin site referred to above isn't a charger but simply a voltage adapter. All I'd need to do with the Creative charger is cut off the cigarette ligter fitting and replace it with a simple connector to my accessor...

Thanks again!

Looks like it's a worthwhile upgrade especially for the additional east European maps.

Thanks dublinrover. I must send off for the upgrade. I presume all the maps, i.e. continental Europe plus UK and Irl, fit on one 2 GB card? I currentlly have all my maps on one of these and I guess I can just swap them over.

That's a good site! Good to see that the special connectors are available separately at reasonable cost! I use my N520 as a GPS unit and find the long flexible arm with a suction cup that came with it works very well. My screen is pretty steeply raked so it needs a long arm to get the PDA to the edg...

A further trawl of Maplin's pages produced this http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48574&&source=14&doy=29m1 The cigarette lighter plug could be cut off and the device hardwired into the accessory socket and I'd say that one of the power tips woud fit the socket on the N520 con...
