you don't need one. just plug the card in and it should show up as a removable drive. if it doesn't show up, it is probably because the card that you are using is not supported.

the slow fps is probably due to the old GFX BIOS. you will need to update your graphic card BIOS. then you can use the latest available drivers. i suggest checking http://www.laptopvideo2go.com for the latest ones. the noise is just because of poor codec and sound output quality. not much you can do...

Re:

Hirens boot cd has mbr tools, as does ubcd4win. If you don't want the data, get a disk utility from the disk manufacturer. You can then wipe the disk completely. windows can do that at the installation as long as the hard-drive is physically recognized. but if the windows installation disk doesn't ...

I don't know about the Pi1505, but i had the same problems with the M3438G BIOS. When I finally got my hands on a piece of software to be able to edit and view all the BIOS settings, I was amazed that nothing was actually hidden in the menus. So point blank, don't look any further because there are ...

you should've received a Win XP home OEM disk upon the purchase of the laptop. sometimes it is marked as recovery disk. you can reinstall Windows using that CD.

you need to know the MAC address or addresses from your laptop. but if it is connecting through a router there is nothing you can do about it. even if it connects directly to the internet, MAC addresses can be spoofed easily.

my guess would be that it is something related to the power saving fetures. having installed Vista to try it out on mine, i noticed that in Vista you can set what your computer is going to do if the lid is closed down. i think this is automatic in WinXP and you probably have to set the power saving ...

OK, made some corrections on the bandwidth for the memory (i forgot to multiply it by 2). As for your other question, you got some of the things wrong. FSB max bandwidth depends on many things and it works totally different with Intel than with AMD. For example the Core2Duo max FSB bandwidth is 8.5G...

It's usually a Windows issue. I had the same thing happening, but after the regular OS reinstall, everything worked fine. Make sure to check your power saving features.

Your question is to vague and I'll tell you why. Usually memory modules with lower speeds have better latencies than the ones with higher speeds, so applications which require a lot of memory I/O will run faster with those, even if the bandwidth is smaller. If you have applications that require band...

Never had lag issues on mine. I'm using pretty much the same drivers as you do. However, don't upgrade to the last VIA drivers. When i did it, the lag appeared for the first time since I have my laptop. Rolled back to 5.30 and everything is just fine.

yes, thermal paste does degrade over time. i have the 3438G and all my multipliers have custom voltages set using NHC. so instead of 1.356V for 2GHz, i only use 1.25V. No stability problems whatsoever. temperature goes from around 45-46C (800MHz idle or low workload) to about 62-63C at 2GHz, full lo...

there are only 2 memory slots on the M3438G. that is also mentioned in the product data sheet.
