That's not aero issue. This laptop's BIOS uses Windows ACPI instead of proper ACPI specs and does not provide standard fan control to OS. I have OpenSuSE 10.1 installed on it - everything works out of the box. The only thing that annoys me is that cooling fan is always running under linux.

Thanks for your replies. The main problem is that there's no /proc/acpi/fan/FN?/ subdirectories, /proc/acpi/fan/ directory is empty on M3438G under SuSE. I tried various kernels from HEAD, but no luck.

Hi there,<P>you can configure external TV/monitor as second screen (desktop extension) or in clone mode, where you'll get copy of internal LCD. This laptop has only one video card and all video ports are connected to it. Go to nVIDIA's settings and check there.

3438 is equipped with i915.

Downgrade then... Get previous BIOS from FSC site and install it.

I installed SuSE 10 on it, works great.
