Re: Upgrade PSU requried for my Scaleo E

This might sound a bit whacky... but I did actually think of using a more powerfull suppply that won't fit in the machine, but could be located nearby with the wires running in - you could do it quite neatly, and even site it where the noise won't be a problem - plus you could have a very powerfull ...

4350 - No audio over hdmi

Hi All, Well after enjoying a week or two of trouble free htpc' ing (since ditching the 8400gs gpu and going with an Asus 4350) I hit trouble again. Pc failed to start, got continual beeping from it, ordered a new stick of ram, problem fixed! Except not quite, as then there was no longer any audio f...

Re: Intermittent total startup failure.

I'm having a similar problem. Sometimes the unit starts a bit and then repeatedly does long beeps - looking on the internet it says this is most likely the bios "morse code" for telling you the memory is faulty. Having reseated the memory, tried it in different slots, I am at a stage now w...

Re: Resolution on a TV 1920x1080 doesn't fit!

Which graphics card are you using? I have tried an Nvidia (sparkle) 8400gs and a Radeon (Asus) 4350, and both came with an app that you open with adjustable settings. Each app had a slightly different way of adjusting the picture size, but both worked fine - on the 4350 the picture was an inch too s...

Re: Graphics & TV Card upgrades

And to continue from my last post, I thought I would add that I have now installed an Asus 4350 256mb card, which came with the low profile bracket too. As with all these cards they take up the space of not only the pcie slot but allso the pci slot next to that due to the depth of the heatsink, so m...

Re: Scaleo EVi 2535 - No audio on HDMI

Hi,
You don't say what graphics card you have. It may (especially if nvidia) need a cable connecting to it from the spdif on your motherboard/audio card in order for the audio to be passed through the hdmi. Perhaps you could take that from the cable that feeds the spdif out to the rear panel?

Re: Internal SPDIF connector

There is a spdif audio lead that comes from a plug on far left hand side of the motherboard as you look at it - it is right on the edge past two other slightly bigger plugs. This lead goes under the riser and graphics card to get to the rear panel where it terminates as a three pin plug with a red a...

Re: Maximum cpu scaleo e

Hi I have looked into this extensively, and it would seem the maximum recommended procesor is P4 3.6ghz, but you may be able to go to 3.8ghz as long as your psu is not over stretched (so would depend on pci cards fitted etc). I currently have a 3ghz which shows as two processors in the system thing ...

Re: Graphics & TV Card upgrades

thanks - I went for a Nova t 500 card in the end though and no problems with it at all, records two shows at once with no hiccups (have yet to try two recordings while watching back something already recorded - dunno if the scaleo will cope). Graphics card I'm a bit hacked off with as I tried an 840...

Dvi to HDMI no audio

Fitted a new graphics card sparkle 8400gs after much research. Fantastic picture but no audio (yes I have connected the phono outs to the 3.5mm jack in on my lg lcd tv, and it is hooked up via hdmi/dvi1) The audio is always being sent from the scaleo phonos as I can plug it into my stereo and hear w...

Re: Evi 2535 BIOS update - how do I boot from CD-R?

this might be a bit late but if it is any help, I recently needed to boot from the dvd drive. All I had to do was press F2 as instructed on the start up screen, this took me into the bios where I was easily able to set the first boot device as dvd (or cdrom as I think it was called). After that, the...

Re: Changing processor

and here is the result, having opted for a cheap and cheerful 3ghz p4 630 (with 2mb cache and 800mhz fsb it should still be a massive improvement over the old celeron) I have managed to screw up the motherboard, bent a pin which although I straightened, the machine keeps freezing up now. I was prett...

Guys, thanks to both of you for the replies, which seem to agree that a 3.8ghz will go. I am currently seeking out a bargain and will be sure to post my results!

Changing processor

So the processor is a socket 775? And best you can fit is around 3.2ghz? I want to change the 3.06ghz celeron I have for a fully fledged P4 with good sized L2 cache and faster fsb. Not confusing enough the amount of different names letters and numbers that seem to crop up when searching for a P4 on ...
