Windows will recognize only 3.00 (or 3.25 depending on chipset) GB on such "old" architecture. Run linux or MacOS to use full 4.00GB RAM memory.

You can work with 4GB only if you upgrade your Bios with Alienware 2.07w from Alienware m5500-r3. It's available somewhere on this forum. Microsoft systems will show 3327MB (even when you install 4GB), but when you install Linux or MacOS then you'll be able to see all 4GB.

Replace with Radeon HD3670 1GB DDR3 - that's the best what you can put into this laptop.

I think it's connected to a faulty graphic card. Suggest to replace the card. Best option is Radeon HD3670 1GB DDR3.

I've upgraded with Intel 4965 with draft-N (144 Mb/s) standard and it's working 100% in my Pi1536 with Linksys WRT-160N router. I didn't connect the third antenna, only #1 and #2.

Better go for ATI. Less problems on boot, less heat, less power consumption. Go for ATI HD3650, HD3670, HD4570, HD4650, HD4670. Don't buy them with Acer Video Bios cause it won't boot.

What is the processor's socket? 478? Or 479?

I think it's a matter of improper Vbios, cause I've already experienced, that some graphic cards with Acer (or other) Vbios doesn't boot in Fujitsu Siemens laptops.

What letter direction did you put the processor in? Towards laptop battery? I mean can you read letters on processor normally or in opposite?
