Re: [Xi] Vista BSOD, BIOS question

If you do sent the machine off, scrub the free space just to make sure that no one can recover and personal data. If you do fit a new MOBO it will probably trigger a request to get a new activation code. Microsoft aren’t as bad as people think on this matter. Just ring up and say the MOBO failed and...

Re: [LB S7110] Core2duo t7400 with 4GB ram not possible?

Hear what you say, over the first five months of this new computer I have read so much on this subject. half of which contradicts what other other half say, I've just stumbled onto a fix for mine, can't say I understand what is going on. Memory remap resides in the Northbridge settings. My ASUS Comm...

Re: [LB S7110] Core2duo t7400 with 4GB ram not possible?

I had that problem, having 4GB [4*1gb] installed but the bios only saw 3gb+. I asked on a forum what I could do. A member told me to Enable memory remap in the bios. It seemed to work for me, although I have to admit the manual says only enable memory remap for 64bit O/S. I run 32bit Vista, but othe...

Re: [LB S7110] Core2duo t7400 with 4GB ram not possible?

Prior to Vista 32bit SP1 install. My main machine, Vista reported 3.2gb ram, and my Dell reported 3.4gb ram

Now after installing SP1 on both machines, both report 4gb ram. For me problem fixed.

Mind you this is microsoft we are talking about, Hm just keep my fingers crossed!

Re: [Xi] Vista BSOD, BIOS question

Cant find anything on you change logs. The advice on updating the Bios varies depending on who you listen to. A lot of people say if it isn't broke why fix it. This I think comes from the point of view if it goes wrong and oh boy it can, then all you have is an expensive paperweight. Bios updates do...

Re: AMILO PI2512 Q114

Have to say I loved my Amilo D1845, gave me no bother through 3 years. Still going strong with the family. But I have to say, I am totaly impressed with my new Dell inspiron a real beauty. You've had a bad run there, get a new battery and give it another try. No I don't work for F/S, honest!

Re: AMILO PI2512 Q114

It’s possible it’s a dud battery; does it work ok if doing other things? I have just got a new Dell, and they advised to charge and fully discharge twice. So I charged it and then left it playing a DVD till the battery was flat, charged again and did the same again. Cant see that charging twice is g...

Re: [Xi] Vista BSOD, BIOS question

The main computer I have now is on its second MOBO, for months I had all sorts of trouble Audio, Video, crc errors etc. It was all sorted with a MOBO change. So it could easy be your MOBO. If you are sending in your computer to be fixed, you will need to keep your HDD's in. If you are woried about y...

Re: [Xi] Vista BSOD, BIOS question

I'm way out of my depth on this one, normaly I would not respond as I would not want to waste your time. Before I googled I thought this sounds like a CPU issue. On another forum I read a response to the same problem:- There's a good chance one of the cores is falling out of sync and therefore produ...

Re: password

If it is the Bios asking for a password then you will have to ring F/S. If it is Windows operating software asking for the main admin password, then it is set as blank just hit return when asked for the password. I think the ringing F/S is so they can check you are the rightful owner then they shoul...

Re: [Amilo X1554] VISTA: (not responding)

Hi Raphael J, I understand your fustration. I decided to build my new machine just as Vista was coming out. For about the first 5 months I always had niggling problems. I eventually put it down to dodgy drivers, Microsoft makes it dificult to get at new O/S, so hence the drivers people produce are a...

Re: [Amilo X1554] VISTA: (not responding)

I agree with you on Vista to some extent. Nice aero graphics, flip desktop of no use to anyone, what are you left with Bloatware. Apart from looking good what does it realy offer over XP? I have three machines running Vista all are no way as bad as yours, 2 Laptops and one desktop. My old Amilo D184...

Re: Clicking sound when u play music or DVD's on my Pa1510

This sounds like a problem I had quite some time ago. I was getting clicking when playing DVD or music video's, it sounded like static. It came down to a conflict between the video driver and the audio driver. The clicks arn't actualy clicks, they are very short gaps in the audio. The only way was t...
