Re: Disconnecting cables

Obviously I don't know your hardware setup or bios configuration but there is no reason why you you shouldn't be able to disconnect a Firewire and/or Front panel audio connection from your motherboard headers - you won't encounter any problems beyond wishing you had smaller hands - the connections a...

Re: [p4 519] ram upgrade

I've had a look around using the model details you have supplied but haven't been able to identify any memory that I feel confident in recommending. I suggest emailing a reputable RAM manufacturer or reseller. Crucial or Kingston are both likely to be able to offer advice, they also offer freely dow...

Re: Where to buy the Scaleo Pi2680 or equivalent spec?

Please ignore.

I've been unable to find a this system or an equivalent/better spec available to buy for a similar price atm.

I've opted for a home build on this occasion.

Re: Where to buy the Scaleo Pi2680 or equivalent spec?

Many thanks for the link bubblegum. I haven't come across that site before. The spec of the Amilo Desktop Li 3740 - Q8200 3GB 500GB is almost ideal, but for the price I really need at least the Geforce 9600GT video card to be included. It's very similar to the Scaleo Pi2680 but only fitted with the ...

Re: [Pi] Sapphire HD 2600 Pro - stalls on boot

It appears that you have tried many possible solutions but unless I've missed it, you don't appear to haven investigated your BIOS settings. From your posts, it seems almost certain that a fundamental Windows fault isn't the cause of your problem; you also seem to have verified that your system supp...

Where to buy the Scaleo Pi2680 or equivalent spec?

I want to replace my current Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo P system. I've spent time online researching the options within my desired price range (base only - Expecting to pay around £450 - Looking for a quad core solution with 3 or 4GB RAM and a Geforce 9600GT 512MB Video Card or better) I initially consi...

Re: [Pi] ASUS P5LD2-FM/DH upgrade

For anyone interested in upgrading RAM on this system/mobo - the Kingston DDR2 module; part number - KFJ2888/XX (substitute XX with the module size you require) is compatible. I bought 2GB in the form of two 1GB strips to maintain dual channel access using KFJ2888/1G from the UK reseller dabs.com.

Re: [Pi] ASUS P5LD2-FM/DH upgrade

Just a heads up for anyone interested... The Asustek (Asus) GeForce 8600GT 512MB PCIE HTDP Silent is compatible with this system without having to replace the Power Supply (the PSU supplied is either 350W or 400W - varies depending on build date/time) . I have also ordered RAM and will report compat...

[Pi] ASUS P5LD2-FM/DH upgrade

I am using the Scaleo P PD 945 1 1,0G system that uses the ASUS P5LD2-FM/DH motherboard. I plan to upgrade the memory and video card. I have already ordered the Asustek 8600GT videocard and I'm now looking for a 2GB upgrade to supplement the existing 1GB that is spread over two of four slots providi...

Re: [Pi 1517] There is no way I can boot!?

I'm not familiar with your system but it sounds likely from your post that it might be a Power Supply issue caused by the current required by your new video card. If your replacement card is the same model you are replacing you can almost certainly discount this, otherwise ensure that the current on...

Re: [P] PC CPU fan noisy

My two year old machine had this problem and it turned out to be the power supply fan. I replaced the supply with a Corsair 420 watt supply and the machine is now quieter than new! Graeme. http://www.boincuk.com My reply was based on a similar experience. I have extended warranty on my system and t...

Re: [P] DVD-RW - Not wroking after windows reinstalled

It's worth trying a forced reinstall of the default CD/DVD drivers. I don't offer any guarantee that this will resolve your problem but it often helps in these circumstances. I've been using Vista for the last couple of years so you might have to adapt these instructions to XP; my memory isn't up to...

Re: [P] PC CPU fan noisy

It might be that your CPU fan, it's enclosure or duct are dusty and you can avoid replacing the fan by cleaning your system. A compressed air spray (available from most computer retailers including PC World) is ideal to displace a loose build up. Heavier deposits on some surfaces might require a VER...

Re: [P] BIOS Upgrade

Go with Alexander's advice Dave; it appears there might be a server side issue (load balancing etc.) that is causing the problem you have experienced. If you urgently need the update then I'm still willing to attempt the download; if successful then I can pass the BIOS file on via an email attachmen...

Re: [P] BIOS Upgrade

Hi Dave, not sure which Scaleo P model you are using but I have tried the BIOS download for my Scaleo P P5LD2-FM-DH as a quick test and the ISO file downloaded fine and is intact. I know there was some discussion of problems already regarding BIOS downloads - Keith reported a similar problem to your...
