Re: [Xi2550] What is "Brilliantview"?

Yes, it is "glare". Also, the contrast is not so good (I have xi1554 but I think it is the same display).

Re: [Xi1547] 4GB Finally !!

Hi!

What happened with your Vista Activation when you flashed Alienware BIOS? Did you experience any problems? I'm worried because if you change a BIOS, the SLI OEM identification is (probably) changed also, and my activated Vista may stop working.

Thanks for tip!

I'm also very disapointed by FSC. Including the fact that xi 1554 is NOT a FSC design at all!!!! They just branded it from some Chinese manufacturer! Thus, it is full of "holes"... What a cheat. We are paying for "brand" quality and we are receiving a device that ev...

Hi! It looks that each xi 1554 behaves in it's own way!!! I'm using XP not Vista. So I can only say that for me it looks like BISO/ACPI settings for cooler throtle vs. "CPU temperature" is wrong. And it looks like FSC having problems to set it right. When I was changing cooler in FSC repai...

Nothing in background originaly. Now, Notebook Hardware Control to undervoltage CPU (-.2V at 12x) and ATT to downclock GPU (-10%).

What is Powerplay issue? Turn it On, Off, Balanced?

Sorry for my neglectance - I just missed your signature (focusing on content) :)))

What are the "heating problem" simptoms? I mean, beside reading high temp of CPU, what other heretic behavior occured to you.

Anyhow, I will buy extend warranty. Thanks for advise!

Yes, it looks like the cooling is not sufficient. Despite, I emphasize the facy that at some point of time, when fan is first started, it starts with some very high RPM than drops after 1-2 seconds and newe ever goes such high again! It looks like BIOS or Windows ACPI issue. I start susspecting Wind...

With 7.2 I have even worst situation :((( BUT, I tried experimenting with: GPU clock = 360 (instead default 400 by BIOS) MEM clock = 580 (instead default 470 by BIOS) and I'm getting lower temps, much better stability with +15% framerates in games and benchs!!! Interesting. It looks like BIOS...

Does any other xi1554 user can confirm which drivers/bios works well?

Thank you sunjhoon! I purchased notebook cooler. Still it freezes in games... I'll also try with 1.19 but I wonder isn't it supposed that newer BIOS works better than old one? And where is it possible to find more info on BIOS release changes? In order to know why someone should or not upgrade BIOS,...

Amilo Xi 1554 overheating problem

I got replaced cooling at FSC but still it looks like GPU is overheating in 3D games / benhmarks. As there is not GPU temp sensor, I can only suspect that GPU gets overheated still after cooling system replacement. CPU temps are (at full load with 3D) around 80-83 C but machine still hangs after 5 m...
