Re: 12V power supply for N520 for in-car use

Mike, Yes, I'm still here! But having had two N5xx stolen (one when my apartment was burgled and then the replacement was nicked from my suitcase at Sofia airport!, I've given up on them for sat nav. But the Creative charger I was using didn't have the 12V option anyway. I'm now minded to get a Garm...

OK, I've made some progress, but not enough! Using VmNET to map my NAS box as a network drive I'm able to build a Windows Media Player library from my iTunes music store on my NAS box. When I start Media Player and go to Library I can select either artist or album and everything seems to be present ...

[N560] Playing music over WLAN

I have my iTunes music store on a NAS box on my home network and I want to be able to use my N560 to access it and allow me to select artist or album to play. (I have an Acoustic-Energy Internet Radio and Media Player that can do this so the music library tagging works OK) In standard configuration ...

Like you, I bought the N520 (with Navigon bundle) on the strength of the PC Pro review. But unlike you, I've had absolutely no problems with either the original installation or the MN|6 upgrade which I also bought via the download. It installed onto a Sandisk 2GB SD card and just worked. To install ...

My only experience is of different SD cards in an N520. I compared a regular Sandisk card with an Ultra II one and found that installing my Navigon programme on the regular SD card was the fastest option of all. I've no explanation for this, but it would seem tha high speed cards make little or no d...

Good to know this as my N520 was stolen yesterday and I plan to replace it with the N560 plus MN|6 of course so the 4GB option is good to have.

Here you go for the Transcend 4GB one http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct.aspx ... EE2A8AF251

However when I check the compatibility list the N5xx doesn't appear to work with the 4GB card.

I've just trawled the Sandisk web site and can find no non-SDHC 4GB cards. They seem to make it very clear that the larger cards, i.e. 4-8GB are only possible as a result of the new technical specification of SDHC. Can you give a specific link to a 4GB SD card? I'd certainly be glad to try and get h...

I haven't yet been able to find a 4GB SD card that wasn't SDHC so I think you are stuck with 2GB as I don't think the N5xx series can handle SDHC.

Just a thought, but you aren't trying to get a satellite lock indoors, are you? Certainly my N520 would rarely, if ever, get a lock indoors but once outside it's fine.

I've recently installed Navigon MN|6.1 and found that, surprisingly, it was much quicker to load when installed on the SD card rather than in main memory! I compared three different cards - PNY, SanDisk, and SanDisk Ultra II - and found that the fastest startup was with the software installed on the...

I would agree that MN|5 works just fine but MN|6.1 is probably a bit more responsive - the slowness I experience is in initial start up of the programme but once running it works very well. I'm very pleased with it but I wouldn't see any real benefit to the upgrade to MN|6.1 if only using it in the ...

Perhaps my expectations aren't very high but I don't want endless options for points of interest, speed cameras, etc. All I want from navigation software is for it to get me to my destination. And I have been perfectly satisfied with the Navigon system as it does exactly that and in more countries t...

I bought my N520 specifically for the Navigon GPS as it had the best maps of eastern Europe. I upgraded to Navigon MN|6 at a cost of £69/€100 to get even better maps of eastern Europe and found it very sluggish but there is a free patch/upgrade to MN|6.1 that greatly improves things. I find it works...

Sorry, perhaps my original post was a bit misleading! The free upgrade or patch is for MN|6 to bring it to MN|6.1 but you need to have bought MN|6 first which, as you rightly say, costs about 100 Euro/69GBP. But considering the Europe C map for MN|5 cost me 116GBP (175Euro) last year, the new Europe...
