You might think that no-one is listening after nearly three years, but I'm still here. And almost interested in the reply!

Re: 12V power supply for N520 for in-car use

A follow-up warning (if anyone, sjdigital especially) is still there... My switchable power supply has a simple slider switch and I accidentally switched it to 12V without noticing. My N500 kept working for a while but then I left it alone. When I came back it was irrevocably destroyed. I sent it of...

Re: [N500] Serial (RS232) data cable looking for N500

Hi Nicholas,

The answer is S26391-F2607-L350...

But please let me know if you find a source of this cable! I have not yet had the courage to try to make one for myself...

Regards, Mike.

I don't know the answer, except that I'm sure it will require a program on the Loox to copy the NMEA text stream (I'm assuming that is what the PC will require) to the USB port. And then there is the question of what program runs on the PC and whether it will read from the USB port and whether the L...

[N500] "Fried"

I have been powering my Loox N500 from a multi-voltage car adaptor. Inadvertently I switched its voltage to 12V without knowing it and left the Loox running. It seemed all right but later had switched off and that's when I discovered the over-voltage. It will not switch back on, even with the batter...

Hi again SJ, no I either use the regular charger or a cheapo multi-voltage one with the "power tip". I might have wired it in but my car is a leased one that goes back within a year. I thought I might be able to arrange something neater than the car charger that came with the unit but prob...

Hi SJ, my N500 came with both of those chargers too. The charger cables terminate with a 1.7mm plug (I discovered) that plugs into one of two multipin adaptors that also came with the N500. One adaptor is meant for car use and has no other connections. The other one is on a USB cable which has a sor...

I've connected a home-grown supply to my Loox (using the adaptor that came with it for connecting to a mains or 12V charger). I bought a 1.7mm "power tip" from Maplin, Size "I", item AR22. This is a standard 2-pin non-polarised job, so you have to be careful with polarity. Maplin...

Maybe a well-discharged battery takes too much current for a USB supply (which is strictly limited) and thus it refuses to charge at all. Try a proper charger (mains or 12V).

Since I don't drive anywhere but the UK it sounds a lot of money just for the upgrade. How does MN6 differ from the MN5 that came with my N500?

Hi aml, I have found a (partial) answer to my question on a different forum altogether (<http://www.firstloox.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6807>). Have not tried it yet. I shall report back.

I concur with many of the previous posts. I haven't got any two programs to use the GPS port simultaneously despite the GPS-settings suggesting that this is possible. But as already suggested that may be because all the programs demand exclusive access. The same problem is often seen with programs t...
