AMC 570 with HP MediaVault Pro?

Postby Activisti » Sun Aug 03, 2008 0:13

Hello!

I do appologise for not being able to write in german, but i hope someone can help me out.

I have Activy 570 with latest sw and i allso got HP MediaVault Pro with 500 gigs disk as UPnP server.

In normal PC, MediaVault software is needed to map HPMV network drive and to control it.
Activy does not find the MediaVault if i do network search...

Is it possible to use this kind of LAN disk with Activy? Obviousely i cant install MediaVault software on 570...

Have someone done this and possibly could give me some help?

Cheers!

Mika

If the HP box only supports UPnP and cannot act as a file server (SMB, samba) then it will not work, because the AMC itself is also a UPnP Server and does not have a UPnP client. If you say that you need software on a PC to map a network drive, then it is not a normal, standard file server.
In this case, you should look at the VZD feature (by brainside) also discussed here in a part of this forum to get full access to the AMC and check if it is possible to install the MediaVault software (at your own risk). It depends on how you will later map the network drives with this software, if the AMC can run with this software automatically in the background without further manual interaction or not.

Hello and thanks for quick response!

The HP MediaVault software has an UI wich has seperate program to mapping drive letters to PC. I have to see if there is any other way. The software does not need any interaction after that and an MediaVault client starts to taskbar.

I can allways copy filet (tv-recordings and so) from PC at the network wich has access to MediaVault but if i was planning to stream music from server with AMC, then it is a problem...

I´ll get in to this and see if HP can act as normal file server.

By the way, you mentioned some tool to "finger" AMC? Where can in get this software and what can i do with it?

Cheers!

Please ask there, if it could work or not. I don't know if they have an english documentation.

Hello!

Done this! I downloaded the software to gain full control of AMC and i normally installed the MediaVault software and mapped the network drives ok.

But i cant find them at search... I did promote user rights to these external disks so that every user can use them but with no luck. I get to HP MediaVault software and navigate but mouse click dont work, so i cant get thru http based MediaVault front screen to operate from there
I have an external USB mouse...

I´ll keep trying. Maybe i get the system working.

Works now perfectly :D
Just took some time to Activy to find the MediaVault.

Question 2.

Any good sw to move and store recordings to NAS from Activy? Activy doesn not have any tools for this...

If you have installed the "Vollzugriff Deluxe" you got access to the Windows File Explorer, to be found as an additional menu item in the settings menu. With that you can copy the recordings to any PC or NAS (if the NAS does support CIFS) in the network. The other way around is to map the recordings folder on your PC and copy the content afterwards. To share the recordings folder in the network, the PIN of the AMC must be set unequal to the default of "0000". This procedure is also mentioned in the manual.
