How to reinstall servers without loosing DATA on SX80 iSCSI

Postby condor_01 on Tue Oct 06, 2009 15:56

Hello,
I have 2 servers (Windows Server 2003) connected to a FibreCAT SX88 iSCSI.
Server 1 has access to 7 LUNs
Server 2 has acces to 1 LUN
The LUNs are formatted and used by the servers. They are containing DATA.
Due to a virus we will reinstall the OS on the 2 servers but we are afraid of loosing DATA after reinstall.
Will the DATA be available after OS reinstall? We will keep the same configuration but we don't know if Windows will see the LUNs with DATA or will it ask for formatting the LUNs?
Thanks in advance for your help

Maybe I'm completely understanding you wrong, but why don't you just disconnect the storage during installation. This would ultimately protect its data...

Or do your servers boot from iSCSI?

Then, simply omitting the installation of the iSCSI initiator (during the initial installation of the OS on a physical disk) would also prevent the server from accessing data on the target, I'd assume.
