(re)Configuring an S80

Postby dropadrop on Thu Mar 20, 2008 14:29

We have a Fibrecat S80 which has been freed from it's previous duties. I would like to use it for testing a database, but that would require redoing all the raid configurations. Looking at the manual for the S80 it seems I would need an application called Spheras. The manual states it can be downloaded from fujitsu ftp or fibrecat.com downloads. The ftp site contains all the folders but they are empty (or I don't have read rights inside them), and I can't find the application from normal downloads.

So can anyone tell me how to reorganize the device?

The FibreCAT S80 is the predecessor of the FibreCAT SX80. The machine is more than 2 years EOL.
We reactivated documentation on our server. Please feel free to have a look on it.

Best regards,

Same problem here.
I want to setup a demo for customers, using some Primergy servers and a FibreCat S80.
I've been trying whole day with various downloads, agents, RAID manager, serverview agents, etc etc ... to find a way to manage the FibreCat80, but no success.

The FTP URL that is mentioned in the manual, where one should be able to download drivers and software for the product, has folders, but no files or software !

Help ?
Thanks in advance.

This application is EOL for a long time and therefore not on ftp steadily anymore. Nevertheless, this week, the applications are on ftp again. In case of having such problems after this week, please contact directly the service.

Kind regards,

Hi!

Can I please have the software made available to me. I have got an old S80 system brought up from the darkest corners of the basement and have to store some files on it for a couple of weeks, but I can't find the original software CD anywhere.

Best regards

I also have problem with locating original software because S80 was bought before I started to work in my current place. And the ftp site mentioned in documentation has empty catalogs. But as I have still miscellaneous ServeBooks and Server* CD's I browsed through them but for my surprise didn't found any info about S80 or soft for S80. Earliest CD's I have are Version 5.311 November 2003(has info about S10, SX10, S30, S40, S60), then 5.501 January 2005(has info about S10, SX10, S30, SX30, S40, S60), 5.601 January 2006(has info about SX10, SX30), 5.603 March 2006(has info about SX10, SX30). Why isn't there any info about S80?
As I found out from http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/7309/FibreCAT_us.pdf I can use Mylex GAM/SAM for managing S80 disks and RAID on Windows but what about Solaris? The Solaris section mentions only Spheras and does that mean I can't use Mylex software to manage it directly or Mylex agents to manage it remotely?

Hi,

for solaris you need spheras software and x-windows (its easier than cli). Mylex GAM/SAM is only for windows.

Only problem is now then where to get Spheras. Because manual says - You can download the Spheras Manager software executable files directly to your system from the Storage Web site at http://www.fibrecat.com or ftp://raid@ftp.fujitsu-siemens.com.
There isn't one at fibrecat.com and all relevant catalogs at ftp site are empty.

Regarding the S60, there was no special Software CD for this model, AFAIK.

The configuration had to be done through SAN Array Manager (part of the GAM/SAM configuration suite). This can still be obtained through the following link http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=61191E53-7ACC-431F-95B4-357E908BB427&OSID=3874188A-1B75-4C5C-9CAF-449955058386&Status=True&Component=RAID.
